More recent and sophisticated telemedicine applications fall into three categories: interactive, where patient and doctor communicate in real time via telephone or videoconference; remote monitoring, where data stream from the patient to a distant monitoring site; and store and forward, where an image or radiograph is captured, then later sent to an interpretive site and returned to the originating site.”
